More ‘Building Homes of Our Own’ CD-ROMs on the Way
Recognized as NAHB’s most successful educational initiative to date, “Building Homes of Own” is now in its third printing with the delivery of an additional 10,000 CD-ROMs.
Launched last September, the program provides middle and high school students with a simulation of the entire home building experience — from choosing a lot to selling the home to a qualified buyer. Students work within a fixed budget to design and build a home, solve real-life problems, make important decisions and use time and money management skills — all in a fun environment that reinforces math, science, social studies and language arts lessons.
About 14,000 copies of the CD-ROM are now in teachers’ hands; it is reaching an estimated 490,000 students, 28,000 teachers and 588,000 parents.
Educators and NAHB members can request one free copy of the CD-ROM by clicking here.
