Higher Storm Water Control Costs Averted
Developers have been saved from having to build more expensive storm water management controls by NAHB's environmental issues staff, which worked with the Environmental Protection Agency to amend proposed “effluent limitation guidelines' (ELGs) for storm water runoff controls.
Builders benefit, too, because higher development costs usually increase lot prices. If NAHB hadn’t interceded with the EPA on behalf of its members and the guidelines had gone through, the industry would have been faced with an additional $3.6 billion in compliance costs.
In upcoming issues, Nation's Buildng News Online will be reporting about specific ways in which members have directly benefited from NAHB services and support. If you have a story about how NAHB benefited your business, e-mail us at editor@nahb.com.
