Action Kit Helps Fight Floodplain Regulation Changes
Residential builders and developers are being advised by NAHB’s Construction, Codes and Standards Advocacy Group that they need to be up-to-speed on the “future conditions” re-mapping effort of flood plains by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA).
Builders will need to pay close attention to any proposed changes to their current floodplain regulations, according to NAHB’s John Ritterpusch. Communities eligible for flood insurance can designate “future-condition” flood hazards, and that is the beginning of a process that could result in stricter land-use regulations
