Elon Musk appears to be planning to open a school in the American state of Texas, according to documents submitted to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Initially, it would involve a primary school with a focus on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) for about 50 students. Later, however, this could develop into a university. This is not the first time Musk has ventured into the education sector. About ten years ago, Musk started a school called Ad Astra at the SpaceX Campus in California. It was a school where five of Musk’s own children and children of some SpaceX employees were students. When Musk moved to Texas in 2020, Ad Astra also relocated there, reports Bloomberg. The original Ad Astra school has now been renamed to Astra Nova School and reportedly has about 250 students from all over the world.
In addition to his school plans, it looks like Musk has plans to build a new community outside Austin in Texas. It will be built on several thousand acres that Musk has acquired over the years. The community is expected to include a school and housing intended for employees of Musk’s companies Tesla, SpaceX, and Boring Co. There are no details yet on the timelines for this.
