A public swimming pool in the UK, in collaboration with Deep Green, has built a device that allows a small “data center” approximately the size of a washing machine to heat the public pool.

The servers are encapsulated around oil that can transfer the heat to the pool water. This should be enough to heat the pool to 30 degrees Celsius for up to 60 percent of the time.

However, the size of the pool is not specified in the article from the BBC, but it should save Exmouth Leisure Centre thousands of pounds. The server is used for machine learning and has been donated to the swimming pool.

Mark Bjornsgaard, the founder of Deep Green, says that the company will also reimburse the swimming pool for the electricity costs of running the system, and that seven other pools in England have joined the program.
